With approval from both the mayor and the common council, the city of Westminster will be moving forward with their $70 million plan to overhaul the wastewater treatment facility.
A Massive Endeavor
The city will need to take out approximately $30 million in loans from the Maryland Water Quality Financing Administration, while the State will be paying for the rest. The plan to upgrade and revamp the city’s water system has been planned for a decade waiting for funding. The plan is expected to significantly reduce the amount of nitrogen and phosphorous entering the Chesapeake Bay.
